Biden Trump Poll

2020 United States presidential election polls forecast

Poll tracker

This chart shows every 2020 presidential general election poll for which we have quality ratings. Head-to-head polls between Joe Biden and Donald Trump are shown in states that are forecast to be competitive in the election. Polls showing Biden and Trump leading in a 3-way race are shown in states that are not forecast to be competitive. These charts account for each poll's quality, so a poll affiliated with a campaign will receive less weight than an academic poll. Polls are not labeled as partisan or affiliated by our team, but instead we use the methodology described in this article.

Select a state name to see its presidential voting history. Select the link below each chart to see all the polling. Select the "Daily" or "Weekly" tab to view the polls conducted within that time frame. Click on the chart to change the variables displayed.

The Economist is tracking the contest to be America's next president. An updating calculation of the president's approval rating accounting for each poll's quality can be seen here.

When the dates of tracking polls from the same pollster overlap only the most recent version is shown. A red line indicates the average of the polls in the most recent week. Only polls conducted after Aug. 1, 2020, are shown.

National polls

A new Times/Siena poll finds Donald Trump leading President Biden in five of six key battlegrounds. The poll shows Trump up by 1 point in Wisconsin, 2 points in Pennsylvania, 3 points in Arizona, 7 points in North Carolina and 11 points in Florida. Biden leads Trump by 6 points in Michigan. Other recent polls have also shown Trump leading in some battleground states, but the Times/Siena poll is the first to show him leading in all five of these states.

The chart below tracks President Joe Biden's approval and disapproval ratings across polls. The blue line shows his average approval rating. The red line shows his average disapproval rating. The grey area shows the range of the polls.

Democratic nomination
