Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson Cast in 'Doctor Who'

Ncuti Gatwa to Play the Fifteenth Doctor

The BBC has announced that Ncuti Gatwa will succeed Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor in the popular science fiction series "Doctor Who." Gatwa, who is best known for his role as Eric Effiong in the Netflix series "Sex Education," will become the first Black actor to play the lead role in the show's 59-year history.

Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday

Joining Gatwa as the Doctor's companion will be Millie Gibson, who recently starred as Kelly Neelan in the ITV soap opera "Coronation Street." Gibson's character, Ruby Sunday, is described as a "rebellious and adventurous" young woman who will be a great foil for the Doctor's more cautious nature.

Reaction to the Casting

The casting announcement has been met with widespread praise. Gatwa has been hailed as a talented and charismatic actor who will bring a fresh perspective to the role of the Doctor. Gibson, too, has been praised for her natural acting ability and her chemistry with Gatwa.

When to Expect the New Series

The new series of "Doctor Who" starring Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson is expected to air in late 2023. The show will be produced by Russell T Davies, who previously served as showrunner for the series from 2005 to 2010. Davies is known for his innovative and imaginative approach to science fiction, and fans are eagerly anticipating his return to the show.
