Raiffeisen Bank International to close Belarus operations

Bank's decision comes amid growing pressure on international businesses in Belarus

Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI), one of the largest banks in Austria, has announced that it will close its operations in Belarus.

The bank's decision comes amid growing pressure on international businesses in the country following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

In a statement, RBI said that it had "carefully considered" its position in Belarus and had "decided to close its operations in the country."

The bank said that the decision was "in the best interests of its customers, employees and shareholders."

RBI is the latest international business to leave Belarus following the imposition of sanctions on the country by the European Union and the United States.

Other businesses that have left Belarus include McDonald's, Starbucks and IKEA.

The departure of international businesses from Belarus is a significant blow to the country's economy.

The country is already facing a deep recession and the loss of international investment will make it even more difficult for the country to recover.
