Ancelotti To Field Unchanged Lineup After Uefa Super Cup Triumph

Real Madrid's Potential Starting XI for La Liga Opener

Ancelotti to Field Unchanged Lineup After UEFA Super Cup Triumph

Key Points

  • Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is likely to stick with the starting XI that won the UEFA Super Cup.
  • The lineup includes key players like Karim Benzema, Vinicius Jr., and Thibaut Courtois.
  • Real Madrid will face Mallorca in their first La Liga match of the 2024 season.

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti is expected to name an unchanged side from the UEFA Super Cup for Sunday's La Liga contest with Mallorca.

The Italian tactician guided his team to a 2-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in Helsinki on Wednesday, and he is set to keep faith with the same starting XI for the trip to the Balearic Islands.

That means Thibaut Courtois will continue in goal, protected by a back four of Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, David Alaba, and Ferland Mendy.

Casemiro, Toni Kroos, and Luka Modric are likely to form the midfield trio, with Karim Benzema leading the line alongside Vinicius Jr. and Federico Valverde.

Ancelotti has a number of options on the bench, including Marco Asensio, Rodrygo, and Eduardo Camavinga.

However, he is unlikely to make any changes to his starting lineup unless there are any late fitness concerns.

Real Madrid will be aiming to make a winning start to their La Liga campaign and will be confident of doing so against a Mallorca side that finished 16th in the table last season.
